Bladder instillation

Bladder Instillations are a treatment used in many patients with Interstitial Cystitis. They are mostly used to jump start therapy or as a rescue solution for flare-ups of IC. The most common bladder instillation contains a mix of lidocaine, bupivacaine, sterile water and heparin. These instillations are placed in the bladder through a very small catheter, usually three times a week over a two- to three-week period.
